Ohio’s Natural Gas and Oil Industry Continues Supporting Local Communities

Revenue from oil and gas operations around Carroll County play a key role in supporting Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum

PATASKALA, OH - The Ohio Natural Energy Institute (ONEi) and Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum have continued to work together to provide educational opportunities for Ohio’s youth and to support the camp's vital infrastructure. Revenue from Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry provides financial support for the camp, while also offering students insights into the natural energy sector.

Since 1944, Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum has been a cornerstone of youth development, offering unique experiences centered on the core principles of leadership, opportunities, education, and personal development.

During camp, members of the ONEi staff teach students about the natural gas and oil industry and share resources and opportunities for future learning, expanding upon the camp’s mission.

“Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum is the only FFA Camp in Ohio, so it’s critical we provide support to important educational experiences for our kids,” said Bruce Tague, Executive Director of the Ohio Natural Energy Institute. “Natural energy is an essential part of our lives in Ohio and sharing opportunities in our industry with the next generation is something we are proud to be able to do.”

Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum has also played host to the ONEi STEM Teacher Workshop for the past two years. This is an opportunity for Ohio’s educators to receive a state-aligned curriculum, hands-on lessons, networking, and a dinner to hear from industry professionals.

Beyond educational support, local natural gas and oil producers, through revenue from operations and state land leasing practices, are also able to support Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum financially.

“We benefit tremendously from our local natural gas and oil producers,” said Todd David, Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum Director. “We have been able to renovate our visitors lodge and amphitheater with this support.”
